Arcachon: When you come to stay in the Serviced Apartments Arcachon the first thing that will strike you is how each of the town's quarters are named after a season. In the Ville d'Hiver, or Winter Quarter, there are over three hundred villas. Many of these are decorated with beautifully carved wood tracery and range in style from colonial through to neo-Gothic. In the Summer Quarter, or Ville d'Ete, there is Arcachon's sandy beach. The Plage d'Arcachon has a pier at each side. On the eastern side is the Jetee d'Eyrac and next to this stands the turreted Casino de la Plage. At the western end of the beach stands the lively Jetee Thiers. You can be as active as you wish with cycle paths, kayak hire, golf, horse-riding, surfing, hang-gliding, or you could take a gentle walk through the Parc Mauresque and if you see nothing else then Europe's highest sand dune, Dune do Pilat, should not be missed.
